The weaponization of space: outer space security

| May 10, 2017

Space has remained a neutral territory since the very beginning of the space race. Even though it has been widely used for both scientific and military use, it has been considered neutral in terms that it could be used by all countries for their benefit, without being a target nor a source of an attack. Nowadays, countries are very dependent on the technologies that interact with these orbiting devices for both military and civilian purposes, such as GPS, Meteorological studies, or telecommunications. This makes satellites a very juicy objective for military attacks. The weaponization of space and outer space security will be discussed on the DISEC committee at C’MUN 2017. This video illustrates this topic as a teaser of the conference.
