Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
| December 10, 2018
This year in C’MUN, and especially today, we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Human Rights Declaration. Today is a day in which we remember all those who gave their lives to make sure that many others could have a chance to have one of their own; and also a day to remind that, even though we’ve come this far since that December day in 1948, there’s still a long way to go and a lot of work to do. Fight every day for what you believe is right, and for what you believe is fair. Remembering the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, 1st Chair of the UN Commission on Human Rights: Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. Human Rights are defended in the first place by letting people know about them and promoting their values.
